#002 Making The Switch

thanks to jupiter images

My housemate and I have religiously bought Cosmo for as long as we've lived together.
We alternate who buys and then devour the text, pouring over each article as one would a passage from the bible. By the time the new one is available, we've read, drooled over and criticised every picture, article and piece of advice to the point where the text has rubbed off onto our hands and the page is transperent.
It's a kind of bonding process.

However, the content of my beloved Cosmo no longer satisfy my hunger for knowledge, fashion and overall glamour.
Since discovering the works of Gala Darling's fabulous blog iCiNG, I have somehow been inspired to live the glamourous life I had always imagined.
I am now obsessed with glitter, fashion, burlesque, parties, dresses, ebay, wigs, high heels and blogs/articles/newspapers that englighten me - rather than drain my soul with mindless drivel about what Paris Hilton's ex- personal trainer told Mary Hart about what Paris eats for breakfast.

So I switched to Vogue, rather suddenly, and found my self amidst a sea of high fashion spreads and overpriced product suggestions. At no stage was I given diet advice, or tips on the best way to have an orgasm. No one told me that Jessica Alba's favourite new exercise is hanging upside down until all of the blood drains out of her body, ultimately giving her slimmer, sexier legs for the summer season.
Instead, I was confronted with an article about the joys and not so joyous moments of smoking. A realistic perspective.

For the first time since I've been reading the glossy magazines I felt as though I was being treated like an adult. Something I'd never really felt with Cosmo.

So this is where I stand on the Magazine issue..
Hardly an issue of international proportions.. But it seems somehow important to me.

Tell me what's so great about the magazine you read?

I've never read a whole issue of Vogue, but I've flipped through it and liked what I saw. I might just go get one, based on what you've said. :)
